About ClearGauge
ClearGauge is a river and stream water-condition intelligence platform built on official U.S. government data. We take real-time readings directly from the modernized U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Water Data for the Nation (WDFN) OGC API and the National Weather Service (NWS) active alerts API. We synthesize these continuous telemetry feeds to give you direct, plain-language answers: is this river Low, Normal, High, or at Flood Risk right now?
The site is built for anglers, kayakers, canoeists, packrafters, and property owners who currently piece together this information manually — checking a gauge number they have memorized, cross-referencing a safe range from a forum post, and asking in river-specific Facebook groups whether conditions are good today.
ClearGauge is not an official flood warning authority. We always defer to the National Weather Service for official flood watches and warnings. Every gauge page links directly to the USGS source page so you can verify any reading independently.
